The manager of Newcastle United, Alan Pardew, has said that he is worried about Fabricio Coloccini’s injury and he wants the Argentinean defender to come back in the team soon. Coloccini has got a severe hamstring strain due to which he wasn’t able to play in Newcastle’s first two matches of the ongoing season.
Like Lionel Messi, he was also not able to play for the Argentina National Team against Paraguay in the World Cup qualifying match and according to the reports, he is not expected to get fit before the match between Argentina and Peru. Coloccini is the skipper of Newcastle and also a vital member of the team. The Newcastle’s defense has looked a bit fragile in Coloccini’s absence in the opening two games.
Coloccini has been playing for Newcastle since the last 4 years. He had joined the club in 2008 on a contract of five years. He has been pretty consistent during his tenure at Newcastle so far. He soon established himself as one of the key players of the team. At the end of the 2010-11 season, Alan Pardew had praised him a lot and said that Coloccini was one of the best defenders going around. He was given the captaincy at the start of the last season and he did a fine job as the captain of the team.
Apart from Coloccini, some other key players of Newcastle are also injured. Ryan Taylor would not be able to play in the remaining part of the season due to the severe knee injury that he had discovered last week. Danny Simpson has also been ruled out for a month due to the hamstring injury. The injuries of the senior players have created a lot of problems for Pardew.
However, the Newcastle manager said that the injuries are part and parcel of the game and he would have to get on with the resources that he has got at the moment. As per Pardew, the young guys would have to step up and take the responsibility in the absence of the senior players.
