FabricioColoccini has been a player of Newcastle United since 2008 and the Argentine defender was promoted to the captaincy role of the Premier League club in 2011 and things were going incredibly well for Coloccini as he was included in the Professional Footballers’s Association Team of the Year in 2012 due to his consistently high level of performances that he made in that season.
There was a period of time when Coloccini was without doubt the leader of Newcastle United as the defender pushed forward for his team whenever it was needed but things have started to fall apart for the Argentine defender.
Newcastle United is going through a horrendous moment in the Premier League as the team of John Carver sustained their 7th successive league defeat after facing off with Swansea City on April 25 and if they are not able to bounce back from this streak of consecutive defeats, being relegated can turn into a real possibility.
Coloccini seems to have struggled more than anyone else in the team and this was evidenced by the red card that the defender received during Newcastle United’s match against Everton a few weeks ago.
It is now being rumored that FabricioColoccini might not be the captain of Newcastle United by the next season as John Carver is believed to be on the verge of giving the captaincy armband to Daryl Janmaat in the summer.
John Carver revealed details concerning the captaincy situation of his team as the 50 year old English manager said: ‘’The captaincy is something that has to be addressed by the football club.We need to give the captaincy to somebody who is responsible, who is a leader. The players will follow a leader, and they have to have discipline on and off the pitch. I shouldn’t have to go in there and manage that dressing room that’s what your captains are there for. I would definitely review the situation in the summer.’’
Daryl Janmaat is enjoying his first season as a player of Newcastle United and the Dutch defender is being taken into consideration as the next captain of the Premier League club after having made a string of impressive performances in his debut season.
