FabricioColoccini does not have the same appeal to the supporters of Newcastle United as he used to have a few years ago. The Argentine defender has seen his popularity in the club take a plunge. The experienced player has even had to deliver an apology to the supporters of the Premier League club.
Newcastle United had a very frustrating past season in the Premier League as they were at genuine risk on numerous occasions of getting relegated into the Championship League which resulted with John Carver being sacked and removed as the coach of Newcastle United as he was replaced by Steve McClaren.
Not only it was a disappointing campaign for Newcastle United as a whole but it was a specially underwhelming one for FabricioColoccini as he had a personal issue with Tim Krul and was at the verge of having his captain armband stripped away from him.
The 2014-15 Premier League season is over and Newcastle United managed to stay safe away from the bottom relegation zone by securing the 15th spot but this hasn’t stopped reports and articles from popping around that suggest the club to have Coloccini removed from his captaincy role and that it should be given to Daryl Janmaat.
Daryl Janmaat was voted by the supporters of Newcastle United as the Player of the Season as he was one of the few players who managed to stand out with a string of impressive performances and actually helped out the club in their quest of avoiding the bottom relegation zone, FabricioColoccini on the other hand struggled to guide his teammates through the tough times that the club has been experiencing and as a captain, this has to be the primary focus.
Steve McClaren is the new coach of Newcastle United and he has to make the decision if he wants to strip away the captain armband from FabricioColoccini and give it to another player or if the recently appointed manager wants to give the Argentine defender one more chance to prove himself.
