FABRICIO COLOCCINI WRITES TO NEWCASTLE UNITED FANS

Fabricio Coloccini terminated his contract with Newcastle United by mutual agreement in July 5 as the centre-back made the decision of returning home by joining San Lorenzo in Argentina.

He made a move to the England side, Newcastle from Deportivo La Coruna in 2008 and impactfully featured in 248 league matches for the recently relegated team, Newcastle United.

Reportedly, due to the relegation of the Championship table leader from premier league, the defender joined San Lorenzo in his home country, Argentina.

“Goodbye For Now” He stated in his open letter to Newcastle United supporters.
“Certainly my football career is approaching the end which I’ve decided to continue with any field related to football after that.

“I will prepare myself for this and I will make sure I am able to become as a coach what I could not to become as a football player.

“Having this dual-feeling of the gladness of being able to return home and also the sadness of quitting from the most important section of my career, I hereby will say goodbye for now.”

In his letter, Fabricio also noted that he was hoping to one day return to the club, as a coach and help them win some titles. He also mentioned how grateful he was for the love they had showed him so far.

The managing director of Newcastle United, Mr. Lee Charnley said it is rare in this era of football that a player gives such length of service to one club; he commended Coloccini for his lengthy contribution to Newcastle United since he joined.

He stated further that the Argentine has been with the club for eight years has become a friend and colleague to many players and the staff. He expressed how he will miss him and he and the club entirely wish him all the very best.
