CITY CHASE COLOCCINI

Manchester City are looking at the possibility of securing Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini in the summer transfer window. The 29-year-old has impressed for Newcastle United in the last four seasons after arriving at the club back in 2008.

Even though he was initially criticised for his poor performances, he has grown to be one of the best defenders in the country. Manchester City secured the signature of Joleon Lescott from Everton many seasons ago, but it is thought that manager Roberto Mancini does not see him as a top player. As a result, he wants to replace Joleon Lescott with either Fabricio Coloccini or Daniel Agger.

The Liverpool defender has also been linked with a move away from the club after seeing the club failed to get the Champions League football for the third consecutive season. Daniel Agger has been at the club for many seasons, but the Danish international has revealed that he wants to play in the Champions League football more regularly. Manchester City recently won the Premier league title and they will be looking to target to do well in the Champions League this season. They have been knocked out of the competition at very early stages in the last couple of seasons.

Joleon Lescott has not been performing at his best in the European competitions. The England defender was once again not at his best with the national team at the Euro 2012. Prior to the start of the New Year, it was thought that Lescott would be offered a new contract along with James Milner and Gareth Barry. However, his poor form in the second half of the season has introduced certain confusion amongst the board. They are prepared to sell him if the fee, which is thought to be around £ 12 million, is right.
