COLOCCINI TO COST 7 MILLION

Newcastle United have reportedly told Fabricio Coloccini's value was around £ 7 million to Sevilla. Joey Barton, Alan Smith, Jose Enrique and Jonas Gutierrez all look to be leaving Newcastle, and Kevin Nolan has already departed for West Ham, and like the core group of Newcastle’s older players, Coliccini is reportedly unhappy with the big changes going on at the northern club.

COLOCCINI MOVES FORWARD

Alan Pardew says he will ask Fabricio Coloccini to “play it again” in Sunday’s Premier League tussle with Aston Villa.

Pardew was impressed by the defender’s forward play in United’s last match and wants more of the same – despite initially asking the big stopper to go for safety first.

The Argentine was magnificent in the 4-1 win over Wolves, and Pardew has admitted Coloccini growled at him on the touchline when he was told to stay back as United probed for goals against the Black Country strugglers.

NEWCASTLE NOT SAFE YET

Fabricio Coloccini has said that Newcastle United aren't safe from the Premier League relegation threat.

The centre-back was upbeat after helping his side to a point against Bolton Wanderers, but he is desperate to secure top-flight status before broadening his horizons, despite the fact that a possible Europa League slot is in touching distance.

Fabricio Coloccini is still haunted by relegation and wants to wipe out the painful memories of 2009 at Villa Park when Newcastle’s stay in the top division ended in sickening circumstances.

He told the Chronicle: “That drives us on.

COLOCCINI HAPPY WITH PRAISE

Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini is happy about the praise from manager Alan Pardew and shows that in match. The Argentina stopper scored Newcastle's opener and Pardew labelled him the 'stand-out player' in the game after the full-time whistle at St James' Park.

Fabricio Coloccini was much-maligned following the team's relegation from the Premier League in 2009 but the 29-year-old has gone from strength to strength since and is now an integral part of their squad.

PARDEW PRAISES COLOCCINI

Alan Pardew has praised the contribution of Fabricio Coloccini to Newcastle United in the past few weeks. The Argentina stopper scored Newcastle's opener and Pardew labelled him the 'stand-out player' in the game after the full-time whistle at St James' Park.

Coloccini was much-maligned following the team's relegation from the Premier League in 2009 but the 29-year-old has gone from strength to strength since and is now an integral part of their squad.

COLOCCINI READY FOR FA CUP

Newcastle defender Fabricio Coloccini has said that he is ready for the FA Cup match against Stevenage. Former Barcelona star Coloccini took in the glare of the two world-class stadiums during his time as a La Liga defender, but just under 9,000 fans will be shoehorned into Stevenage’s more modest surroundings tonight as the romance of the FA Cup once again gets into full swing.

Coloccini says Newcastle want to keep their season alive on two fronts ahead of the FA Cup battle with Stevenage.

COLOCCINI STARTS

Fabricio Coloccini is back from injury for Newcastle and he will be starting against Manchester city. Fabricio Coloccini hasn't played in more than a month, having been hit with a three-game ban for his dismissal in the defeat at Bolton Wanderers last month.

And Routledge, a substitute for Alan Pardew's first game in charge, will play on the right side of midfield.

COLOCCINI STILL SUSPENDED

Fabricio Coloccini is still suspended for the Liverpool match and hence will not play any part in it. Elsewhere in midfield, skipper Kevin Nolan is expected to be return from the ankle problem that has sidelined him for the last two games and Danny Guthrie could retain his place in the squad as the ankle injury that saw him stretchered off at the Hawthorns is not as serious as was first feared.

First-choice centre-backs Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson serve the final leg of their three-match suspensions.

HUGHTON STAYING POSITIVE

Chris Hughton has said that he will add more players to supplement the quality already at his disposal from players like Fabricio Coloccini. The Magpies appear to have missed out on reported target Marseille midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa.

This means Hughton has only made three signings so far this summer - James Perch, Sol Campbell and Dan Gosling - as he seeks to keep last season's Championship winners in the top flight.

HUGHTON BACKS COLOCCINI

Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton believes that Fabricio Coloccini can return strongly from the World Cup disappointment. Unlike Newcastle United team-mate Jonas Gutierrez, the defender didn't make Diego Maradona's final Argentina squad for South Africa, despite a superb campaign in the Championship.

Manager Chris Hughton felt for the 28-year-old, who had been hopeful of forcing his way into Maradona's plans, despite not playing in the Premier League.
