Chris Hughton has said that he will add more players to supplement the quality already at his disposal from players like Fabricio Coloccini. The Magpies appear to have missed out on reported target Marseille midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa.
This means Hughton has only made three signings so far this summer - James Perch, Sol Campbell and Dan Gosling - as he seeks to keep last season's Championship winners in the top flight.
But the Newcastle boss remains confident he can further strengthen his squad before the window slams shut. He said: "We're still working, along with other clubs. It is a difficult time and it's about making sure we bring in the right individuals at the right prices to help players like Fabricio Coloccini.
